Jumping Ship

Today we were up and at the dock by 8AM, ready for our 8:30 Ferry, which then left at 9:20, and so begins the longest travel day we have had so far, 16 hours on the ferry, from Heraklio, Crete to Sitia, Crete to Kassos, to Karpathos, to Halki to Symi and finally to Rhodes.

Even though it was 1AM, and we were dead tiered and cranky, the lit up city walls of Rhodes were beautiful when we arrived. It is a gorgeous city, the kind of castle walls that inspire thoughts of Rapunzel or the Knights of the Round Table, it looks like a living fairytale, and would be if it weren’t for the tons of folks pouring into cabs from the nearby bars.
