The Eagle Has Landed

Nosotros Siamo Aqui (Really bad spelling of "we are here")

Hi all, well, after a fun week spent in the lovely state of Florida,
Ulises and I are in Spain, the birthplace of Conquistadors, Sangria,
and the Siesta. It was a rough day of air travel from Miami to Philly
to Madrid; I can honestly say we experienced the heights of US Airways
hospitality. Between the "packed like sardines" feeling that you
always get with an extended coach flight, the surly service by the
stewards (seriously if you say you accept $5 or 5Euro, then what does
it matter if someone pays in both?), to the realization that booze is
not free on international flights, only the nausea inducing acid bomb
penne arrabiatta with a side of cheddar cheese, pasta salad, and a 70%
organic cookie - I think plastic is 70% organic - are free…as is the
digestive hell that comes with them.

Anywho, after landing in Madrid we took the metro to the Sol section
of the city, to try and track down our hotel. For having 45 lbs on
our backs and 1 hour of sleep between us both, I think we did pretty
well. After a café con leche, we went to the Palacio Real to look at
some armor, art, and some incredible huge buildings. Just up from a 4-
hour nap and getting ready for dinner here, hopefully our first real
food in 24 hours!

Sunstroke and Sheepshead

Ulises and I just got back to Miami from visiting the Davis clan up in Ormond Beach, FL. We went on the official Davis Family outing, pier fishing off the Seabreeze Pier in Daytona. We got in a full day of immersion in the Daytona Bch. Spring Break culture, which included fresh sea air, tons of sun, the thumping bass from the tricked out auto audio show down the beach, and catching a few fish as well.

After losing about 10 fiddler crabs by prematurely reeling in the line, and not setting the hook, I finally followed my mom's advice and caught not one, but TWO sheepshead (also known as convict fish due to their ability to steal your bait, and their striped prisoner coverall fashion sense).

Check out this silly video for some fish catching action, and here's a picture of Ulises and I with all we will carry for the next 8 months!

Hello Beaches

Best Japanese concert in Denver that I have ever seen. Check out this cover of "Hey Pretty Girl" by the cutest oranges I have ever seen.

Jerry Krantz, Denver Highland Original

Met Jerry Krantz, 50+ year owner of El Chapultepec, at Julian's Barber shop (Lowell and 44th). Jerry gave us a bit of a history lesson. He has run numbers our of 'Pec with $400K paydays, and implied that Lodo was full of brothels in the old days and the 'Pec was not excluded. He pays for everything in cash. And brings bags of money to property closings. He lives in the North Highlands area.

He paid $20 for his $11 hair cut.

Watch RMN video on Jerry and Pec:

Snowmass is a terrific mountain. The best glades ever. Big thanks to Diego.

On another note, T and I have quit our cushy jobs. We have a one-way ticket to Madrid, an iphone, and a 0% interest credit card.
